Disclaimer and Editorial Transparency

Last updated: 21 July 2026

1. Nature of the publication

Becoming is a personal and independent publication, updated without a predetermined publication schedule, devoted to reflection and cultural discussion on truth, faith, life, society, technology, responsibility and the continuing formation of the person.

Becoming is written and published under the pen name Elias Rowan.

Becoming is not currently registered as a journalistic publication and does not present itself as an official source of journalistic information.

This document concerns the editorial nature of the content. The processing of personal data is described separately in the Privacy Policy.

2. General information, not professional advice

Content is provided for editorial, general informational, personal reflective, cultural discussion and public conversation purposes.

Nothing published should be understood as:

medical advice;

psychological or psychiatric advice;

legal advice;

financial or tax advice;

professional or business advice;

emergency assistance;

pastoral care;

individual spiritual direction.

Readers remain responsible for their own decisions and circumstances.

Where a situation requires professional assistance, readers should contact a qualified professional, emergency service or competent institution.

3. Opinions and interpretations

Articles and other content may include personal opinions, interpretations, questions, experiences and commentary.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, they do not represent the official position of any Church, religious community, institution, employer, organisation, company or other third party.

References to external persons or entities do not imply mutual affiliation, cooperation, endorsement or sponsorship.

4. Facts, sources and corrections

Becoming takes reasonable care when discussing facts and external sources. However:

information may become outdated;

sources may contain errors;

facts may be incomplete;

interpretations may differ;

the author may revise a position in light of new information.

Where reasonably possible, Becoming seeks to distinguish factual information from personal interpretation.

Content may be corrected, updated or removed without prior notice. Significant corrections may be indicated where appropriate.

5. Faith, religion and spirituality

Reflections on faith, religion, Scripture, spirituality and religious traditions are offered as personal, editorial and cultural reflections unless expressly stated otherwise.

They do not constitute theological authority, individual spiritual direction, pastoral care or official statements made on behalf of a religious institution.

6. Health and mental health

Where content discusses health, mental health, personal difficulty, hospitalisation, recovery or lived experience, it does not replace diagnosis, treatment, therapy, professional advice or emergency assistance.

In a medical or psychological emergency, local emergency services or qualified professionals should be contacted.

7. Technology, work, economics and artificial intelligence

Content concerning technology, artificial intelligence, work, economics, finance or society is intended for reflection and discussion.

It should not be treated as a guarantee, certain prediction, investment advice or personalised instruction for making important legal, financial, employment or business decisions.

8. AI-assisted production

Artificial-intelligence tools may be used in parts of the editorial or production process, including:

developing and comparing ideas;

organising research;

language correction;

translation support;

transcription;

subtitles;

audio or voice processing;

visual development;

generating or modifying images and video;

technical assistance.

The author retains editorial control, reviews the final content and assumes editorial responsibility for it.

The use of AI tools for language correction, organisation, assisted translation, research or other limited interventions does not necessarily mean that the entire content was generated by artificial intelligence.

9. Transparency for AI-generated or AI-modified content

Where images, audio or video are generated or significantly modified using artificial intelligence and could reasonably be mistaken for authentic content, Becoming provides a clear and accessible disclosure where required by applicable law, platform rules or the context of publication.

For evidently artistic, creative, satirical or fictional works, disclosure may be provided in a proportionate manner that does not unnecessarily interfere with the enjoyment of the work.

Where AI-generated or AI-modified text is published for the purpose of informing the public on matters of public interest, Becoming applies the transparency obligations required by applicable law, taking into account any human review, editorial control and responsibility assumed by the author.

AI tools will not knowingly be used to:

impersonate a private person;

fabricate quotations attributed to real people;

falsely depict a real person as the author of words or actions never spoken or performed;

intentionally mislead the public about the authenticity of a real event.

10. External platforms

Becoming may publish, adapt, excerpt or promote its content through external platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Medium, X, LinkedIn, Quora, Reddit and other services.

Versions published on different platforms may be shortened, translated, reformatted or adapted to the format and audience of the platform.

Use of an external platform is governed by its terms, privacy information, policies, moderation systems and technologies.

11. Comments and contributions on external platforms

Comments, messages and other contributions posted by users on Facebook, Instagram or other platforms represent the views of their respective authors and not necessarily those of Becoming or Elias Rowan.

To the extent permitted by the platform and applicable law, Becoming may moderate, hide, restrict or remove content that is unlawful, offensive, discriminatory, threatening, defamatory, misleading, invasive of privacy, promotional, repetitive or irrelevant.

Public comments on the Ghost website are not currently enabled.

12. Third-party materials

Articles, videos and posts may refer to books, research, journalism, films, trademarks, organisations, religious texts or other third-party works.

Such references do not imply endorsement by the relevant party.

Quotations and third-party materials are used only where there is an appropriate legal basis, permission, licence or applicable exception.

Names, logos, trademarks and other third-party rights remain the property of their respective owners.

13. Images, music and people

Becoming seeks to use images, music, footage and other materials that are:

created by the author;

properly licensed;

used with permission;

in the public domain;

generated or modified through AI tools in accordance with applicable conditions;

otherwise lawfully usable.

The appearance of a person in a photograph or video does not automatically imply that the person endorses Becoming.

Where identifiable private individuals appear in content, Becoming seeks to verify an appropriate legal basis and, where necessary, obtain consent or another suitable authorisation, particularly in sensitive contexts.

Special care is taken with content involving children and their best interests.

14. External links

External links are provided for information, reference or convenience.

Their presence does not imply endorsement of every opinion, product, service, policy or statement found on the external site.

Becoming does not control the content, availability, security or privacy practices of independent third-party services.

15. Voluntary support

Voluntary support through services such as Ko-fi contributes to the time and work required to maintain the publication.

Voluntary support does not purchase:

professional advice;

editorial influence;

agreement with the supporter’s views;

guaranteed publication of specific content;

guaranteed access to future content or services.

Voluntary support is not presented as a tax-deductible charitable donation.

16. Copyright and original materials

Unless otherwise stated, original texts and materials created or developed for Becoming are protected to the extent recognised by applicable law.

Materials generated wholly or partly through AI may be subject to a different level of protection depending on the human contribution and applicable law.

Readers may share ordinary links to publicly accessible content.

Substantial reproduction, republication, adaptation, commercial use or redistribution of original materials requires prior permission, except where permitted by law or an applicable licence.

17. Availability and liability

Becoming does not guarantee that the website, connected platforms or every item of content will always be available, complete, current, error-free or suitable for a specific purpose.

To the extent permitted by law, Becoming is not responsible for decisions made solely on the basis of general editorial content or for the acts, content, products or services of independent third parties.

Nothing in this Disclaimer excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

18. Changes

This Disclaimer may be updated when the publication, content, technologies, platforms, activities or applicable requirements change.

The most recent version will be published with its updated date.
