1. Purpose of this Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy describes the use of cookies and similar technologies on the Becoming website.
For broader information about the processing of personal data, member accounts, newsletters, social media platforms and voluntary support, please consult the Privacy Policy.
2. What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies are small text files that a website may store on a user’s device. Similar technologies may include session identifiers, local storage or other technical tools used to provide functions, maintain a session, protect a service or measure the use of a website.
Some technologies are strictly necessary to provide a service requested by the user. Others, such as certain advertising, profiling or third-party analytics tools, may require prior consent.
3. Becoming’s current configuration
In its current configuration, Becoming does not use advertising cookies, profiling cookies, Meta Pixel, Google Analytics or other third-party behavioural advertising tools.
Becoming may use Ghost’s native, first-party and cookie-free analytics to understand, on a limited basis, website traffic, referral sources, content performance, member growth and reader engagement.
Ghost’s native web analytics do not use cookies or other persistent browser storage to recognise a visitor across different sessions, browsers or devices. Unique visitors may be counted within limited time windows.
When an authenticated member visits the website, Ghost may associate certain content-use information with the relevant account, such as the member identifier and free or paid status, where those analytics functions are enabled.
4. Strictly necessary technologies
When a user chooses to register, subscribe, sign in to an account or use Ghost Portal, technical cookies, session identifiers or equivalent technologies may be used where strictly necessary to:
authenticate the user;
maintain a secure session;
provide the requested functions;
prevent unauthorised access, abuse or fraud;
protect the website and user accounts.
These technologies are not used for behavioural advertising and, to the extent that they are strictly necessary for the requested service, they are not used on the basis of consent.
The technical name and duration of these tools may change following updates to Ghost or the service configuration.
5. Newsletters and email measurement
Where newsletter analytics functions are enabled, Ghost may provide information about email delivery, opens, clicks, signup sources and interactions with external links.
These activities are described in greater detail in the Privacy Policy. Users may unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time by using the link contained in the emails.
6. External links and platforms
Becoming may contain ordinary links to external services, including Facebook, Instagram, Ko-fi, YouTube, TikTok, Medium, X and LinkedIn.
The mere presence of an ordinary link does not, by itself, cause the external service’s cookies to be installed on the Becoming website. When a user selects the link and visits the external service, that service may use cookies or other technologies under its own rules and policies.
Unless otherwise stated, Becoming does not currently embed social feeds, third-party video players or Ko-fi payment widgets on the website.
7. Banner and consent
Because Becoming’s current configuration does not use non-essential cookies or tracking tools requiring prior consent, the website does not currently display a cookie consent banner.
If Becoming later introduces, for example, Meta Pixel, Google Analytics, advertising, retargeting, embedded social feeds, third-party players or other non-necessary tools, this Cookie Policy will be updated and, where required, a consent mechanism will be introduced before those tools are activated.
8. Browser controls
Users may configure their browser to block, restrict or delete cookies. Blocking strictly necessary technologies may, however, prevent sign-in, account access or other requested functions from operating correctly.
9. Changes
This Cookie Policy may be updated when the website, Ghost, integrations, analytics tools or applicable requirements change. The most recent version will be published on this page with its updated date.

11. Language versions
The Italian and English versions are provided to make the information accessible to Becoming’s different readers.
In the event of an interpretative discrepancy, the Italian version shall prevail to the extent permitted by applicable law.
